A rift was opened up in Arathi Highlands which acts as a gateway to the hidden Azjol Nerub, due to the explosion at blackrock mountain and the Maelstrom Closing. With the rift opened, the Sha and it's corrupted are escaping through the rift as a reaction to the seal being broken.
The Nerubian Empire held the caste system, they are the gatekeeper of the sha and the remains of a dead god. Sworn to keep them locked away no matter the cost.
Though the Spider Wars/The Scourge took a toll on the nerubians, they have repopulated with a hidden vault of mature pure eggs. Thus a new royal family has
taken the reins of the empire. They seek to keep the old ways of the nerubian and worship their god, Yogg-Saron. Most nerubians did not agree with this and rebelled, starting a civil war during wartime with the Mantid. With the opening of the rift in Arathi Highlands and the disappearance of his daughter, the Emperor and his empire fell to the corruption of the Sha, too proud to admit a great chance of losing a war against four enemy factions(Rebels, Sha, Mantid, Forest Trolls). Gravely ill of fidning no return of his daughter, the emperor sent a task force to start a war with her alleged kidnappers, the forest trolls.
With the threat of the sha, insanity of the empire, and constant war with the mantid. The Rebels hope to reclaim the empire, push out the mantid, and lock away the sha.
The Mantid seek to exterminate the nerubians and infecting Sha, as well as claim the falling empire and it's surroundings for their own.
Both factions require the aid of a third party in order to succeed.
